New Vice Principal - Tina Cooper

Having graduated with a Bachelor of Education (Hons) Degree and attained the National Professional Qualification for Headship, Tina has been in education now for 25 years. The last 15 years of which she has been at Senior Management level both in UK and internationally.During her career she has been professionally growing as an educator and educational leader. Her ability to articulate what it means to provide a quality education, particularly within an International school context, has become far more consolidated.
This process has helped define her own values-system and provided her with the knowledge and understanding of creating excellence in schools.Tina brings to EtonHouse a transparent approach to leadership through the development of good professional working relationships, trust and fairness. This enables a shared vision.Tina’s  guiding belief and principle is that ‘Every Child Matters’ and deserves the best education that inspires and prepares them for their chosen future. This is based upon her 25 years in education, which she consider to be a privilege as well as her passion.


Pre-School

Kindergarten 1 Galaxies – Tracey Pritchett

Ms Tracey Pritchett and her family joined EtonHouse in 2017 after moving to Singapore from Australia, where Tracey worked as kindergarten director and teacher, embedding the philosophies of nature play and forest kindergartens together with the educational project in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Tracey’s passion for the Reggio Emilia philosophy complements her time teaching inquiry-based learning within the IB Primary Years Program, which she experienced at EtonHouse Thomson where she taught Year one, and prior experience working in Year Two at Munich International School in Germany and Kindergarten at Yokohama International School in Japan.Tracey promotes authentic communication by engaging learners in all of their senses to creatively and confidently share ideas, express their intentions and hypotheses and build new understandings of the world around them. It is of utmost importance for Tracey to instill a love of playful learning and to build caring, trusting relationships with her learners. She is excited to be joining EtonHouse at Broadrick and looks forward to building strong relationships with children, families and staff.

Kindergarten 1 Comets (Bilingual) – Sarah Moore

Ms Sarah Moore is an experienced teacher, who gained a degree in Psychology at Coventry University and a PGCE in Primary Education at Bedfordshire University.  She has taught children from K1 to Year 3 and also had experience working in inclusive education in the UK, supporting children with hearing impairment and developmental disorders.  She has worked in an Early Years setting in the UK, where she contributed to raising the standards of a school failing Ofsted from unsatisfactory to good.  She moved in Singapore in 2012, first working in an enrichment centre and then gaining a position as a Year One teacher at EtonHouse, Broadrick. She has a passion for developing language skills through inquiry based learning, with a keen interest in narrative writing.Sarah believes that education should be engaging, relevant and inspiring.  She wishes to instil a love for learning in her students through thought provoking activities and inquires.  She believes that inquiry based learning encourages students to look beyond facts and figures and empowers them to take ownerships of their own learning.

Kindergarten 1 Comets (Bilingual) – Yu Ding Lan

Ms Yu Ding Lan holds a Diploma in Pre-school Education. She taught in China for two years honing her craft, before moving to Singapore in 2013. Her journey at EtonHouse started three years ago and she is a familiar face in the Broadrick community. Ms Yu Ding Lan brings her creativity, enthusiasm and passion for Art and Chinese language into her lessons and has been working successfully in the bilingual programme for the last two years. She strongly believes that students should enjoy their learning as it is an important part of developing a learner’s relationship with a new language and further helps retention. Ms Yu Ding Lan is currently studying her Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. In her words, “If the students have laughter in their hearts, they learn much better.”

Y1 Kangaroos – Laura Dimogerondas

Ms Laura Dimogerondas is an experienced teacher, who has taught in all levels across Primary School. She holds a Diploma of Teaching (Primary) from Melbourne’s Phillip Institute of Technology and a Certificate of Accreditation as a Primary Teacher from the Primary Teachers Registration Board, Australia.  She is also trained in Reading Recovery, Quality Exploration in Science Teaching, Maximising Literacy Success-generalising ERIK strategies in the classroom and Explicit Teaching.Ms. Laura has been a part of the EtonHouse Broadrick community since August 2012 as a member of  Pre-School, in the Year One team.  From 2014 she taught in the Year One Bilingual class and has been Level Coordinator, and Head of Pre-School since 2017.In her words, “Working with children is a rewarding career. It gives me the opportunity to make a positive impact on young people’s lives and education. I believe that all children are capable, responsible individuals, who learn best when they feel safe, happy and secure, and are encouraged to take risks, explore and investigate.”

Y1 Koalas (Bilingual) – Lesley Melo

Ms Lesley Melo holds a Master of Teaching from Australia and a Bachelor of Arts from Canada. She has been teaching for nine years, starting in Australia and then moving to London, England, with a range of experience from Early Years to Primary. She has a passion for reading and writing and developing literacy skills in young children.Ms Lesley believes that, “… it is important for educators to empower students with the skills to become confident, independent, curious and responsible for their learning. It is important to create a safe and warm environment for each individual, where each child will feel confident to explore and play an active part in their learning.”In her words, “As a teacher I believe that all teaching, learning and assessment approaches should support children to develop responsibility for their own learning and provide opportunities for lifelong learning. So active learning is embedded in my daily practice, where I encourage my pupils to set themselves challenges and work co-operatively with their peers.”

Y1 Koalas (Bilingual) – Ning Minna

Ms Ning Minna graduated from Hunan Normal University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-school Education and she is currently taking a Part-time Master Course in Teaching Mandarin as an International Language with Jinan University. She joined EtonHouse International School in 2014 and has 7 years of teaching experience. She enjoys teaching Mandarin to young children through inquiry, rhythm, songs, stories and play. In addition, she is passionate about the development of young children. She also has a passion for dance and drama and is delighted to be able to apply this knowledge to her Mandarin lesson. Ms Minna believes that, “The child has a hundred languages, one hundred ideas, and one hundred kinds of thinking. As a teacher, we should take the ball thrown by the child and use one hundred kinds of educational methods of listening and loving to become a strong supporter of the child’s growth.

Y1 Platypus – Vinita Jagwani

Ms Vinita Jagwani comes with loads of teaching experience and calls EtonHouse Broadrick her second home! She became a part of the Broadrick community as early as 1997 for a year and then continuing since 2000 as an Early Years educator. Ms Vinita has worked in all pre-school year levels from N2 to Year 1 over the last 18 years.Ms Vinita along with her class teacher role has also previously held the portfolio of the Early Childhood Development Agency (The Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports) – ECDA (MCYS) supervisor and Kindergarten One coordinator.Ms Vinita holds a Degree in Education and a Bachelor of Arts from India, as well as a Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education – Teaching (DECCE-T) and a Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education – Leadership (DECCE-L), from Singapore.


Primary

Y2 Eagles – Rachael Zechmeister 

A career educator for more than 10 years, Ms Rachael Zechmeister has taught a variety of levels, ranging from early childhood to middle school, in both the United States and Turkey. She joined EtonHouse Broadrick at the start of the 2017-2018 academic year. Prior to teaching in Singapore, Ms Rachael held various positions, such as classroom teacher, Language Arts teacher and Spanish teacher. Ms Rachael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Spanish and a Master’s degree in Bilingual/Bicultural Education, both of which were awarded in the United States.Ms Rachael’s experiences teaching various ages of children and several content areas have helped form her educational philosophy. She values the individuality of each child, and she treasures the imagination, energy and creative spirit of young children. While fostering the innovative nature of her students, Ms Rachael strives to develop both independent and critical thinkers in a nurturing environment.

Y2 Flamingoes –  Ms Amanda McCracken 

Ms Amanda McCracken comes with 9 years of teaching experience from the United States and holds her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. Ms. McCracken has taught in diverse communities in Hawaii and Colorado teaching in Year 3 and Year 1. This is Ms. McCracken’s second year teaching Year 2 at EtonHouse Broadrick. Ms. McCracken has studied multicultural education and English Language Learning. She believes that all students should have access to quality education and diverse learning experiences. In Ms. McCracken’s words, “I hope to instill a growth mindset in students, accepting challenges as opportunities to grow together with authentic experiences and creating a strong, values-aligned class culture. I also hope to give families as much access to our learning as possible. I believe that partnership is the key to holistic growth of the child.”

Y2 Kingfishers – Kim Soriano

Ms Kim Soriano has enjoyed the past 15 years, teaching students from years 2-4, working in a variety of school settings and systems. She started her teaching career in California, United States where she taught for 7 years before teaching in different parts of China, including Beijing and Shanghai.Her intention is to impart a lifelong pursuit of learning. She still is excited when she sees students who learn in thoughtful and rigorous ways, using open-ended inquiry.Ms Soriano attended University of Southern California and California State University, Fresno where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree and an elementary teaching credential. She is thrilled to be joining EtonHouse Broadrick and the Year 2 team this academic year. She is looking forward to making wonderful memories at school. Her outside interests include reading, exploring new places, and trying different exercise classes to stay healthy.

Y2 Owls (Bilingual) – Sarah Bagnell

Mrs Sarah Bagnell brings in a lot of international experience, passion, and enthusiasm for teaching and learning. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Care and Education from the University of Limerick, Ireland (2009) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland (2010). Before joining EtonHouse Singapore, four years ago, Mrs Sarah taught for a number of years in Abu Dhabi and Scotland. As a teacher she believe that all teaching, learning and assessment approaches should support children to develop responsibility for their own learning and provide opportunities for lifelong learning. Active learning is embedded in her daily practice and students are encouraged to set themselves challenges and work cooperatively with their peers.

Y2 Owls (Bilingual) –Bai He

Ms Bai He is tri-lingual in Chinese, Japanese and English. She was born in China and grew up both in China and Japan. She holds a degree in Linguistics from the Chinese Department in Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, Japan (2012). She also has been awarded the internationally recognised Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Hanban (Chinese Council for Promotion of Chinese Language), Singapore (2016). As an educator, she has several years experience in teaching Chinese to Japanese students in Japan and also international students in Singapore. She believes that every child has a gift for language learning and works to bring out that gift in children so they realise their potential through learning a foreign language. She works to create an optimum learning environment that will allow the children to develop academically, physically and mentally.

Y2 Peacocks (Bilingual) – Amy Walter

Ms Amy Walter is a British teacher who qualified with a Primary PGCE from Cambridge University in 2009. In her research she specialised in how children acquire early numeracy skills. As an International School Teacher, Amy has lived in Detroit, USA where she taught an Arts programme; in Helsinki, Finland, where she taught Years One and Two as a Lead Teacher and in Arusha, Tanzania where she taught Year One and coordinated Numeracy. She has lived in Seoul for three years previously, working for EtonHouse Korea as a Lead Teacher with responsibility for Numeracy across the Primary years.Amy wants to equip children with the skills they need to solve problems by themselves. In her actions she wishes to convey to children the inherent value that they have, outside of their accomplishments. If you are a parent, Amy would be delighted if you played with your child today!

Y2 Peacocks (Bilingual) – Yu Meng

Ms Yu Meng brings with her many years of experience in teaching Mandarin as an additional language in both Singapore and China. Ms Yu Meng joined EtonHouse in September 2011 as a Mandarin teacher, bringing with her not only her expertise in teaching but also in art. She holds a diploma in Fine Arts from the Nan Yang Academic of Fine Arts, Singapore and a teaching licence from China. As an enthusiastic and positive teacher with a firm belief that learning should be fun, she strives to make her lessons enjoyable for her students.

Y3 Alligators – Richard Tombs

Mr Richard Tomb is a British teacher who is now entering his fifth year at EtonHouse. Previously he held positions within the EAL department and most recently Physical Education teacher. Before this he was a teaching assistant in Colombia to gain experience as well as a private tutor for English and Maths at Primary through to Secondary level. He originally graduated from Kent University, Canterbury with First Class Honours in Accounting and Financing before finding a passion for teaching, which culminated in acquiring a TEFL qualification in order to teach English in Colombia. The passion eventually culminated in the completion of a PGCEi through the University of Nottingham.Through his readings and teachings Richard is a firm believer that every child is different in the way they learn, and so his teaching reflects this by offering a variety of ways for them to learn.In his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar and taking part in all sports, in particular football and athletics.

Y3 Chameleons (Bilingual) – Shenaz Dabu

Ms Shenaz Dabu comes with many years of experience in education, including those at EtonHouse Broadrick. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree (with specialisation in education) and a post-graduate Teachers Training Certificate from Loreto College in Calcutta, India.Ms Shenaz has been with EtonHouse for the last 13 years and has taught English as an Additional Language, Year 3 and Year 2 during that time. She has also been teaching a Year 3 bilingual class for the past 2 years. She brings with her strong practices in the International Baccalaureate as well as all the skills of a dedicated classroom practitioner, thus enabling her to establish a wonderful learning community and the desire for learning excellence amongst her students. Ms Shenaz has been the teacher facilitator for the Student Representative Council and has also held the roles of EAL Coordinator as well as the Year 2 Coordinator during her time at Broadrick.In her words, “My teaching career has been focused on empowering young minds to inquire, think and learn, while providing the guidance and the pastoral care that they need. There is nothing more I love than educating young minds, triggering their natural curiosity and helping them blossom into internationally minded citizens of the world.”

Y3 Chameleons (Bilingual) – Liu Sihan

Ms Liu Sihan earned BEd Degree in TESL (secondary school level) from the University of Malaya, Malaysia (2016), and she also holds a Diploma Certificate in Office Management & Secretarial Practice (2011). She describes herself as a learner in a multicultural society; at the same time she is also a practitioner in a multicultural school. In nine years of studying and working in Kuala Lumpur, she was motivated by her previous cluster school’s strong sense of community and values, particularly the school’s dedication to teaching children about the importance of thinking skills to succeed.She joined the EtonHouse community in 2017. The bilingual course sparked her interest in helping equip students with the language ability to navigate the increasingly globalised world. She is extremely excited about the learning inquiries she will be exploring in Year 3 Chameleons. She also has a great passion for Chinese and English literature and loves how the creativity of an inquiry-based programme allows the children to explore different things with languages in unique ways.

Y3 Geckos – Keira Collins

Ms Keira Collins holds a First class Degree in Childhood   Education from University of Wales, Swansea and an Advanced Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip Adv) in Education from University of Birmingham, England.  Ms Keira has a strong background in positive approaches to teaching and learning and developing a respectful learning community.Ms Keira Collins is from Wales, UK. She has taught in Shanghai China, where she was involved in setting up Reggio Emilia inspired learning spaces for a range of learning needs.  She has taught in Singapore and UK where she taught across the Primary age range, before re-joining the EtonHouse Broadrick community last year. She is very much looking forward to the new school year and meeting the new cohort of Year 3 students. She strives to create a calming learning environment that offers children a range of choices and engagements that meet different learning styles.  Having taught under the PYP when she first worked in K1 at Broadrick 7 years ago, she feels it is important to offer children opportunities to work together, feel valued and to feel safe, secure and confident.  She aims to support children as individuals to build up a passion for learning and a love for school.

Y3 Iguanas – Rashmi Aggarwal

Ms Rashmi Aggarwal is an immensely experienced teacher and    brings along her vast experience, passion and dedication towards   her class community. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political   Science (Hons) and Bachelor of Education from the University of Delhi, India. She also has a Teaching English to Young Learners qualification from the British Council, Singapore.In her words, “I’m so glad to be back at EtonHouse, Broadrick. In 2011, upon returning from teaching at the New International School of Thailand and Harrow International School, Bangkok, Thailand, I rejoined the faculty.I had previously taught English as an Additional Language on the Broadrick campus between 2002 and 2005. My pedagogical philosophy centres on the belief that children bring with them a wealth of prior knowledge. Thus, they learn best when they get the opportunity to experience things and make connections with their existing knowledge. Providing a fun-filled learning environment is central to my role as a teacher.”

Y3 Turtles (Bilingual) – Mrs Catherine Blowers

Mrs Catherine Blowers is a passionate educator and holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree with Qualified Teaching Status (BA QTS Hons) from St Mary’s University College, University of Surrey. Her teaching career began in London, UK. Her teaching experience includes teaching Year 3, 4 and 5 students as a class teacher and English as a Second Language (Kindergarten 1 to Primary 6). Since joining EtonHouse Broadrick in 2013, Mrs Blowers has been involved in Year 3 and Year 4 Bilingual classes.Mrs Catherine has a passion for teaching, and actively engages all the children in her class with interactive inquiry with the ultimate goal of seeing them all be successful learners, inside and outside the classroom.

Y3 Turtles (Bilingual) – Wang Di (Diana)

Ms Wang Di (Diana) holds a BA in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Harbin Normal University in China and MA in Chinese studies from the National University of Singapore. She is an experienced and passionate educator and has worked in a range of Chinese teaching and learning contexts.Ms Diana believes that providing a warm, supportive environment to students promotes academic and emotional growth. She strives to teach not only Mandarin but also Chinese culture and history, which guides students to gain deep understanding. Ms Diana will continue to provide Y3 students with an engaging learning environment.

Y4 Pandas (Bilingual) – Jack Ellsworth

Mr Jack Ellsworth holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Georgia State University, USA, majoring in Early Childhood Education. He completed this degree teaching at a primary school in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.Mr Jack has taught in three different continents and started teaching at EtonHouse Broadrick in Year 2013. In the United States, he was a faculty adviser for the National Young Scholars Program, where he taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students, using interactive, hands-on learning concepts. Before coming to Singapore, he taught in Hawaii, where he introduced the tradition of having his students start and end their day with olis (Hawaiian chants), immensely popular with his students there and now at Broadrick!

Y4 Pandas (Bilingual) – Xu Yang

Ms Xu Yang holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Liaoning Normal University in China and Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as an International Language from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.Ms Xu Yang is an experienced teacher with more than four years teaching experience in Singapore.  She has a great passion for teaching Mandarin for children of all ages.  She believes interest is the best teacher and inspiring students to learn Mandarin in an interesting way is very important.

Y4 Penguins – David Moore

Mr David Moore has been teaching in Year 3 and 4 at EtonHouse Broadrick since 2011. While the first few years of his career were spent in his native Australia and in the UK, the rest have been here in Singapore. He holds a Bachelor of Education degree with specific studies in Primary Education.Mr Moore was the Year 3 Coordinator for 3 years and has contributed collegially to the preparation and planning of highly effective teaching programmes in EtonHouse. For the last two years he was the Mathematics Coordinator and oversaw the school curriculum being updated along with the addition of a variety of different resources including Numicon. In his words, “My true passion lies in making sure I have a positive impact on the children I teach, ensuring that their individual needs are met.” 

Y4 Polar Bears – Lexi Larcher

Ms Lexi Larcher is an enthusiastic, passionate educator who comes from San Diego, California and has taught in a wide variety of schools across Southern California.  Ms Lexi graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies with a specialisation in science from San Diego State University in 2011. She went on to earn her K-6 Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at San Diego State University in 2012.She joined EtonHouse in 2012 as a K2 teacher at EtonHouse Bundang in South Korea and was the Lead Teacher from 2013–2014. She has been with Broadrick since 2014 as a Year 2, Year 4 Teacher and Science Coordinator.She knows that students learn through making- which also includes making mistakes!In her words, “My style of teaching is one that promotes a positive, child-centred atmosphere that supports learning and sharing. My goal is to stimulate learning by making complex problems more engaging and hands-on. True learning happens when students are able to take risks, self-discover and make meaningful connections to their lives.” She believes the Learner Profile attributes and attitudes can help individuals and groups become responsible members of the classroom, and the larger global community.

Y4 Seals – Lesli Grace

Ms Lesli Grace has been in Education for 13 years. Her involvement in multicultural, diverse education systems developed her into the  experienced, hands educator she is today.Originally from the Philippines, Ms Lesli received her Bachelor’s degree in Management at University of Santo Tomas.  After teaching at an international school in Manila for 3 years, she moved to Singapore and has worked as a teacher here for the past 9 years. During that time, she completed a Diploma in Special Education from National Institute of Education (NIE) along with a Diploma in Autism and completed her Master of Education from University of Adelaide.As a class teacher, Lesli endeavours to create a classroom environment that is stimulating, encouraging and supportive of each learner.  She always strives to find the right balance of being kind yet firm with students in the hope to shape every student into responsible, confident and impressionable individuals. She truly believes that developing a child’s character is just as important to their future as their academic success.Lesli is passionate about learning and she uses her experiences as sources to develop well-rounded students who will make positive contributions to their communities.  To her, building a strong partnership between home and school is very important.Lesli is so excited to meet the children and be their teacher for the next school year 2018- 2019.

Y5 Dolphins (Bilingual) – Mike Gotelli

Mr Michael Gotelli holds US Elementary Education Certification and Master of Education in International Teaching and a Level 7 Diploma in TESOL from Trinity College London. He has vast PYP experience, having completed a wide range of courses and having taught the Programme for ten years. Originally from California, Mr Michael taught in Europe and South America for nearly two decades. He joined EtonHouse Broadrick in 2013 in Year 5, where he continues to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment to support the Year 5 students’ development.In his words, the key to his teaching success is in creating trust and a sense of belonging for the students in the classroom to deliver happiness and positive learning outcomes.Out of school hours, he enjoys spending time with his wife Karine, who is also a teacher, and their daughter Alice who is a student, both at Broadrick.

Y5 Dolphins (Bilingual) – Cui Ying

Ms Cui Ying is an experienced teacher and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education (Bilingual) from Shenyang Normal University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as an International Language at NTU, Singapore.Ms Cui Ying has been with EtonHouse Broadrick since 2015, teaching Mandarin in the school’s Bilingual Programme. Prior to that, she has taught Mandarin in China and Chinese as a second language in Singapore for over ten years. In her spare time, she enjoys singing and travelling.  In her words, “I believe that the guidance of the teacher is very important to students and I hope to make Mandarin a more popular subject for my students.”

Y5 Marlins – Bernadette Atkins

Mrs Bernadette Atkins is a highly experienced teacher who has taught across all grades from 5 year olds just starting school, right through to Year 6 and beyond. She holds a Diploma of Teaching and a Graduate Diploma of Teaching from Australia. Mrs Bern joined EtonHouse in August 2016 as a member of the Year 1 team and now teaches in the Year 5 team. Prior to this appointment she has taught in schools across Melbourne, where she held a number of leadership positions. Mrs Bern is particularly interested in working with students to develop their intrinsic motivation for learning. She sets high standards for her students and leads them to develop a strong work ethic by consistently giving their best effort.

Y5 Swordfish – Chantel van Niekerk

Having graduated from the University of Reading in 2006, Ms Chantel van Niekerk spent several years working as an Education Welfare Officer for a Local Authority’s Children’s Services. Her background in this area has made her passionate about supporting her students to progress not only academically, but also in their social and emotional development.Following this successful career in Children’s Services, Chantel studied her PGCE at Anglia Ruskin University in 2014 as she wanted to develop further professionally. She worked in England for two years at an Ofsted Outstanding rated school where she was pushed to be creative in the classroom and take risks with innovative teaching styles.Chantel is moving to Singapore from Bangkok where she has been teaching at a Bilingual school for the last 2 years. She has just commenced studying for her Masters in Education and looks forward to applying what she has learnt in the classroom at EtonHouse.

Y6 Tigers – Niru Raghuram

Ms Niru Raghuram is an enthusiastic and dedicated Primary Years Programme (PYP) educator with nine years of teaching experience in international schools in Singapore. Ms Niru holds a Master of Education from Monash University, Australia, a Bachelor of Science from Bangalore University, India; a Leaders of Learning Certification from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a TEYL (Teaching English to Young Learners) certificate from the British Council, Singapore.Ms Niru’s roles in the past have included being Classroom Teacher for Year 4, Level Coordinator for the Year 4 team of teachers as well as English as an Additional Language teacher. As a classroom teacher, her focus is on language, social studies and the STEM subjects (science, technology and mathematics). Her teaching is based on the inquiry approach pedagogy, the core philosophy of the PYP. Y6 Lions – Richard Phipps-Brown

Mr Richard Phipps-Brown holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education, which is now the University of Gloucestershire.He joined EtonHouse International School in 2008, prior to which he worked in London in England, Switzerland, Colombia (as the PYP Coordinator), Guyana and Mexico in the upper primary classes.In his words, “I see each student in my class as an individual who has their own beliefs, ideas and feelings.  I feel that it is important as their teacher to promote a positive environment in which they can express themselves and be given the confidence to grow. I am very proud to be a Year 6 class teacher and to have the responsibility to guide and facilitate my students’ learning.”


Secondary

Y7 Secondary 1 – 1 Abdul Miah

Mr Abdul Miah worked as a Secondary and A-Level Mathematics teacher in London for 4 years before moving to Singapore with his family at the end of last year. He has been teaching at Dover Court International and is really excited about joining EtonHouse in August.
Abdul seeks to teach Maths in a creative way.  Having conceptualised media content as a broadcast journalist in his prior career, creativity is one of his strengths and a skill that he uses in the classroom. He tries to inspire and engage students via interactive media applications to deliver lessons and/or explain difficult concepts.Abdul also encourages students to think logically when solving a problem and to try to construct meaning on their own. He believes this process allows them to become independent thinkers and problem solvers in a nurturing environment.Outside the classroom, he is a FA qualified football coach and used to coach for West Ham United Football Club’s youth projects in his home town as well as play for a semi-professional team in North London. He is also a formally trained beekeeper with a number of apiaries in London and currently helps train beekeepers in Fiji during the school holidays.

Y7 Secondary 1 – 2 Lauren Brown

Ms Lauren Brown comes from the United States, and has taught in Hawaii, South Korea and Singapore during the course of her career. She is a passionate educator and enjoys teaching English to secondary students. She enjoys sharing her love of travelling, reading and language, as well as her skills as a gymnastics and  cheerleading coach. Ms Brown holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Hawaii, and a Masters of Literacy Education from the University of Missouri. Ms Brown teaches Year 7 English at Broadrick, and enjoys providing engaging, fun and challenging lessons for her students

Year 7 Secondary 1 – 2 Kelvin Chin

Mr Kelvin Chin holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Physical Chemistry and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Laurentian University in Canada, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education in Physics (with Distinction) from the University of Hong Kong. Before taking on the role of Head of Secondary School (Organisation) in EtonHouse, he taught Secondary Science at high-achieving international schools specialising in IGCSE, A-Level and the IB Diploma Programme.His previous experiences include establishing and developing secondary programmes in international schools – including designing new secondary school facilities and coordinating professional development programmes for staff. Mr Kelvin believes in making learning relevant and meaningful for his students. In his words, “I have had the pleasure of witnessing the impact of enacting relevant and meaningful learning. Students who are motivated because they are interested find learning fun, more interesting and exciting – which makes teaching and learning all that much easier.”

English Acquisition Mona Bhandari

I have been an English Acquisition teacher at EtonHouse since 2013. I believe that children can learn and thrive in an environment that is stimulating, comforting and appropriate to their abilities.I have great passion and commitment for my work, and have over 15 years of teaching experience in a variety of educational settings in Singapore, the UK and India. My love for children helped me choose my career.Completing a full-time two-year teacher training course at Loreto College, Calcutta, I went on to teach children from ages 4-16. I hold a BA Honours Degree from Delhi University, a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and a certificate in Teaching English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL) from the UK.  I have also been involved in EAL curriculum development.

English Acquisition – Carl Mascaro

I believe students thrive when provided with a comfortable and encouraging environment that promotes passion and a motivation to learn. I set up my classroom to allow students to develop their English skills through authentic communication and collaboration.My teaching experience includes five years of teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) here in Singapore, most recently at the British Council Singapore. I have also taught EAL in South Korea, Thailand and Peru. Outside of EAL, I have experience teaching literacy and test preparation and have spent time coaching golf.I graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Marketing and spent a year in the medical industry before finding my passion for teaching. I hold a CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Adults) from the University of Cambridge and a TYLEC (Teaching Young Learners Extension Certificate) from Trinity College.

English Acquisition – Duncan Scott

Mr Duncan Scott hails from Scotland. Over the last four years he has taught English Acquisition, GCSE and A level Business Studies in Spain. Prior to being a teacher, Duncan ran his own HR and Operations Management consultancy for 10 years.Every child is unique and it is important to him that all of his students should enjoy coming to class. Duncan support this through creating a trusting and friendly environment where students are encouraged to be the best they can be, fully engaged in their learning and without fear.Duncan hold a Masters in Business Administration, a Trinity cert TESOL and a Teaching Young Learners Certificate.

Intensive English Acquisition – Jessica Mascaro

Ms Jessica Mascaro is from the United States of America. She has been teaching English Acquisition since 2009 and has had the opportunity to teach in South Korea, Thailand and Peru, as well as here in Singapore. Jessica is passionate about language teaching because she believes language can act as a bridge between different cultures, bringing people closer together and building tolerance and acceptance within communities. She believes that motivation is key to language learning and strives to teach English through rich contexts that are relevant to the children. Jessica holds a Master’s of Education with an emphasis in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and a Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) with a Young Learners Extension. For her undergraduate degree, Jessica graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Communication and a minor in Anthropology.

Japanese – Fujie Hirano

I help my students discover a love of communication to become confident, internationally minded communicators. They also get to enjoy and appreciate the Japanese language and culture through songs, dance, and kotoba asobi (word play), as well as through cultural means such as Origami, seasonal events and cooking. My lessons aim to strengthen their mother tongue so that they have a seamless transition back into the Japanese school system upon their return to Japan.I became a teacher because I wanted to experience life beyond Japan while instilling a love of Japanese language and culture in students overseas. I have taught at all levels, from young children to adults, and enjoy seeing my students grow through the years, both in the classroom and in the broader context of pastoral care.I moved to Singapore with my husband in 2010, and my son was born here in 2012. Outside school, I enjoy cooking international cuisine and exploring Singapore’s many beautiful nature parks.I hold a Master of Arts from Doshisha University and a Bachelor of Arts from Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, Japan. I also graduated with a Graduate Diploma of Education (LOTE/ESL) from The University of Melbourne and have 11 years of teaching Japanese experience in Melbourne, Australia. I am a registered teacher with the Victorian Institute of teaching in Australia and also hold a Japanese teacher’s license.

HindiPriyanka Bharij

I believe in a hands-on approach towards teaching and learning, recognising multiple intelligences and different ways children learn in order to grasp concepts. My compassionate and caring nature allows me to build rapport readily with children from different year levels. I also encourage my children to be independent thinkers and help them develop their self-confidence.I am experienced in teaching at the primary and pre-school levels both in my home country of India as well as in Singapore. In addition to regular classroom teaching, I have also been actively involved in conducting extra-curricular activities including IT, music, dance, and art and craft to different age groups. I am also trained in Classical Vocal Singing, Multimedia and Commercial Arts.I have a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delhi, and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Education.

MandarinZhao Bei Yan

I am a passionate early childhood educator with a degree in Early Childhood Teaching – Teaching (Chinese) and have worked in arena both locally and in China since 1986. I joined EtonHouse International School in 2001. As a Director of the Mandarin department at Broadrick, I oversee the Mandarin department operations across all EtonHouse campuses. With strong passion to learn, I always set goals in educational and personal improvement, encouraging our Mandarin teachers to participate professional training and learn from one another to constantly upgrade their professional skills to develop an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.I believe in creating a child-centred learning environment and provide students with opportunities to engage in learning within meaningful contexts through purposeful inquiry. I also believe that the foundation for lifelong learning is built through progressive conceptual development together with an enjoyment of the learning process.

MandarinLi Jing

I prepared an integrated learning that consists of language, games, Chinese Culture and role-play in the Chinese Class, which will help to let the children know the Chinese better and foster the children’s interest in learning mandarin and also achieve better learning result.I have many years of experience teaching Mandarin. My teaching portfolio includes 6 years with Tien Hsia Language School and two years with Fujian Quanzhou Foreign Language Middle School in China.I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Hainan Normal University (School of Information Technology).

MandarinLi Wei

I have over 10 years of teaching experience in pre-schools and primary schools in Singapore, and joined EtonHouse Broadrick in 2014.I work in a great team, and my colleagues have given me a lot of help and support in using the IB philosophy and approach, which has made me an outstanding teacher.I pay a lot of attention to every student’s personality development and respect each student’s dominant characteristics and differences. I allow my students to explore their creativity as they learn and do my best to ensure they all enjoy my classes and appreciate the Mandarin language as a result.I hold a Bachelor of Arts from the Shenyang Normal University of China and a Montessori Diploma from Bei Jing Montessori Bilingual.

MandarinNiu Lei

I started my teaching career in 2008 at Beijing Golden Future Preschool Education Centre, and in 2015 I joined EtonHouse Broadrick.I graduated from Xin Yang Normal University, He Nan, China with a Bachelor’s degree in Preschool Art Education and Music Education (Chinese Gu Zheng). My primary school Chinese teachers’ qualification is approved by the Ministry of Education of China. I also hold a Gu Zheng secondary teachers’ qualification from the Central Academy of Music.

MandarinPan Ling

I have a strong passion for teaching Chinese language to students, but also an understanding and appreciation of the Chinese culture, history and philosophy. As a life-long learner, I am constantly exploring and trying new ways to ensure students continue to enjoy and understand Chinese knowledge.I have gained experience in teaching both Mandarin and Chinese Social Science for students from primary to secondary school in both China and Singapore.I hold a Bachelor degree (Education of Social Science) from East China Normal University and a Master degree (Chinese Studies) from the National University of Singapore.

MandarinMs Yu Xiao (Stephanie)

Ms Yu Xiao (Stephanie) love to teach mandarin, especially to teach mandarin to the foreigners. She like to use a variety of teaching methods and teaching materials to teach the students from different countries. She has been with EtonHouse Broadrick since 2011 and she come from Shan Dong province of China. Prior to teaching, She worked in a Korean trading firm.

Ms Yu Xiao hold a Bachelor of Art Degree in Education from Heze University, majoring in English Education. She is currently pursuing International Chinese teacher qualification certificate.

MandarinWang Ming Yue

There is nothing I love more than to hear children using Mandarin to communicate fluently and to know that I had a hand in making it possible.I have been with EtonHouse Broadrick since 2014 and before that I worked in China in Shenzhen kindergartens and Beijing early education institutions.I aim to help my students become positive and proficient communicators in Mandarin. To achieve this, I use music and games during lessons so that my students can easily understand the concepts I am teaching.I graduated from the Jinan Institute of Education. I was also awarded Excellent Teacher and Child Health Instructor Awards from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MOLSS).

Mandarin ArtWang Xiao Zhi

I love dance and I strive to nurture the same love of the art form in my students. I have been teaching at Etonhouse Broadrick as a Chinese Dance teacher since 2013. Before that I spent four years teaching Chinese Dance at the Bei Jing Art Academy and ShenYang Art Academy. I also represented ShenYang Art Academy at conferences organised by the Chinese Dancers’ Association.I hold a teaching qualification in ballet from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD,UK) and a ballet certificate from the Commonwealth Society of Teachers’ Dancing in Dance (CBTS, Aus). I graduated from Shenyang Art Academy, majoring in Chinese Dance and am currently pursuing a pre-school diploma in Singapore.

Mandarin – Sun Yang

Graduated from Liao Ning Normal University with a Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, Ms Sun Yang possess four years experience in teaching Chinese language in Singapore and many years experience in teaching Chinese language in China.Sun Yang loves teaching and is pursuing it as a career. She is patient and  responsible towards every student and passionate in her teaching career.Sun Yang adopts different teaching methods to different students. “Try always my best!” is the motto of her life.

Mandarin – Kara Jiang Luyang

Ms Kara Jiang Luyang, graduated from Sichuan University in 2013 with a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, which followed on from her 2010 undergraduate Bachelor’s degree achieved in English.
This is her 7th year of teaching, having taught for the last three years at Leman International School Chengdu, China, where she worked as Chinese and English as an Additional Language (EAL) teacher. In addition, during her time in Sichuan University, she was awarded the opportunity to teach visiting scholars and bachelor candidates from all over the world in the Overseas Education School of Sichuan University.
Kara loves travelling together with her family and passionate about painting and calligraphy.

Mandarin Teacher – Sonas Lim

Mr Sonas Lim has been teaching in EtonHouse for the past 15 years, specialising in Chinese arts and Mandarin. He holds a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of other languages from Fudan University, China, and a Diploma with Distinction in Fine Art (Major in Western oil painting) from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. Prior to teaching Mandarin in primary and secondary level, he has been working closely with the Mandarin department in delivering Chinese culture lessons for both the Preschool and Primary levels for many years. He has participated actively in various Chinese art exhibitions locally and has won numerous awards. His previous experiences include doing part-time teaching in Still life drawing, Acrylic painting, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting and seal-engraving in local primary and secondary schools.


EdTech

Sheth Vibha Narayan

I joined EtonHouse Broadrick in 2007 as a Hindi teacher, teaching students from Nursery 2 to Year 6. My main aim was to promote a love for the language and make it come alive through innovative teaching. My strength is my ability to bond strongly with students, parents and members of the EtonHouse community.I believe in creating classrooms without walls through collaborative technology and putting learning into the hands of learners. Digital technology is an enabler for the 21st century learners and must be effectively integrated within the school curriculum to enhance skills as well as transfer of knowledge across disciplines. I have been the designated ICT Coordinator for the school for many years, in 2012 I was given an opportunity to work as an ICT Specialist Teacher. I continued to work with the entire primary school students in this role, promoting learning through advanced technology and creating a community of independent learners at the school. Since than I have designed and implemented an integrated ICT curriculum for primary as well secondary school to facilitate students’ learning at EtonHouse. In 2015, as a part of school wide EDTech development program, Robotics and Programming were included within ICT curriculum for both Primary and Secondary years.I hold a BSC (Honors) from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India, a Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education from Wheelock College Boston and a Certificate In Infant and Toddler Care and Development from Seeds Singapore. I also hold Masters In Education with IB Specialisation from Flinders University Australia. I am currently pursuing a course on Machine learning and Computer Science to further my professional career in 21st century learning arena.

 


Visual Arts

Sheila Hattle

Travel is one of my passions and I am privileged to be able to combine this with my chosen career. I am from New Zealand, but have taught internationally in England, Egypt, Germany and China.I have engaged in many amazing experiences along the way (I have many stories to share!). I am fortuitous, along with my husband and daughter, to be able live and teach here in Singapore, where I was born and spent time as a child.I am delighted to be the Primary Visual Arts teacher. Along with travel, art has been my passion from an early age and a love I have developed through school, university and into my adult life.  I love to share and encourage creativity in children, and I receive much joy in exploring art along with the children I teach.I hold a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education and Care).

Karine Wolney

I have been teaching Art at EtonHouse Broadrick now since 2013 and have gained so much in terms of personal development and positive outcomes.  With over 15 years of work experience in the areas of design and art, I have acquired a unique skill set, that when combined with my love for working with children, enables me to be an effective educator.What I take great joy from is the creative learning process that I both teach and learn from.  This gives me a sense of satisfaction and inspires me to challenge learners towards to achieve artistic accomplishments.It is my firm belief that all learners have unique abilities and can benefit socially, academically and personally from expressing themselves artistically.  I have a BA in Architecture and Urbanism, Masters in Architecture and PhD studies in Visual Communications.  Most recently I obtained a Level & Diploma in TESOL from London Training College.


Music

Jasmine Wong

I have nearly 20 years of music teaching experience, first giving private lessons at the age of twelve, then professionally in schools in Canada and Singapore. I’ve been Music Director here at EtonHouse Broadrick since 2013.I have worked with professional musicians and educators from around the world, and have conducted choirs and bands, accompanied singers, and performed in concerts. I am excited to transfer my knowledge, experience and love of music to my pupils here at EtonHouse. I enjoy experimenting with different cultural instruments I find during my travels, and it’s always a joy to introduce these new and exciting sounds into the classroom!I graduated from the University of Calgary (Canada) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Developmental Arts) and from the University of Alberta (Canada) with a Bachelor of Education (Elementary Education).


Performing Arts

Performing Arts – Richard McKinnon

Richard has been with EtonHouse since 2013, where he has designed and implemented a Performance Arts Programme for students ranging from the pre-school through to the secondary school. Heavily involved in school productions, he has brought passion and joy to Drama classes, making it an integral part of the school curriculum across all ages.   “I am committed to providing my students a positive learning experience.” Having written, performed and produced many productions in Australia for stage and film, he is able to bring this rich creative background to students and further enhance their speech and confidence which transcends to important transdisciplinary skills across all subjects.

Before becoming a teacher he had a successful professional background in Public Relations and the Print Media, which transferred seamlessly to teaching Media Studies and English literature to secondary students in Australia. The EtonHouse Performing Arts programme now extends out to the wider community, actively involving students in charities across Singapore, encouraging a greater sense of purpose and mindfulness. Richard holds a ‘Diploma in Performing Arts’, a ‘BA in Media and Communications’, and a ‘Post-Graduate Diploma in Education, Applied Learning’ from Australia.


Physical Education (PE)

Justin Pritchetti

Mr Justin’s  background stems from exercise science and elite performance where he spent years touring, travelling, coaching and teaching around the world. From surfing awesome waves and working with amazing elite athletes to helping children with special needs. From the snow laden Munich International School in Germany… to the beautiful people and places of Japan where he worked in Yokohama International School.Mr Justin hails from Australia, where he taught Health, Physical Education, Biological Sciences as well as running a School of Excellence in football, which is a real passion of his. His current role is developing the Broadrick Physical Education and Outdoor Education programmes of inquiry and engaging with our curious young ones as they explore learning in, about and through Physical Education.

Kay Tanner

Ms Kay Tanner is British born though  raised in Spain. She has lived and taught since then in Sydney, Qatar, London, Dubai. She is now really looking forward to her new adventure in Singapore, which she fell in love with during previous travels through Asia and is very excited now to call it home.Kay is eager to develop a growth mindset in her students by encouraging pupils to actively take ownership of their learning. Her teaching approach enables students to develop self-confidence and independence to holistically flourish academically and socially.During her spare time Kay participates in various outdoor activities and recently she has taken up boxing and kickboxing, which she is fully enjoying.As for her education Kay holds a Bachelor of Education and Exercise and Sport Science, in Valencia, Spain.


Library

Christina Simpson

I was born a long time ago in Toronto, Canada but I think of myself as a citizen of the world because I have been an overseas teacher and librarian for 12 years. I spent four years in Izmir, Turkey as a Teacher-Librarian and eight years in Bangkok, Thailand, as a Grade 5 classroom and middle school Science teacher. Back in the old millennium, while in Canada, I was a PE teacher and part-time librarian.Of all the ‘teacher hats’ I have worn over the years, being the school’s Teacher-Librarian is my favourite. To me, the library has always been the Heart of the School – every student passes through its doors, eagerly seeking out new and exciting information and ideas.I am excited to be working at EtonHouse Broadrick, and promise to work hard to make the library a place of Adventure! Make-believe! Curiosity! Mystery! And Fun! Come visit the library. I’d love to show you around!I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Winnipeg, Canada and a Diploma in Teacher-Librarianship from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.


Inclusive Education

Patty Duque

Originally from Colombia, therefore speaking Spanish; Ms Patty has a Psychology degree from Colombia, an MSc in Marketing Management from the UK, Postgraduate Studies in Elementary Education from the USA; and a Masters in ADHD and Learning Support from Spain.Her journey in education began in 2006, starting as a teacher assistant and then being promoted to be an early years classroom teacher. She has been a Spanish Teacher in secondary school, as well as working as a counsellor and learning specialist. Patty has worked in Colombia, Chile, Montenegro, Ecuador and Spain in international schools.Patty believes that every child can be successful and that it is our responsibility as educators to work with them, so that they discover within themselves the strengths and skills necessary to achieve their full potential.In this rapidly developing world, Patty believes it is important that we maintain a holistic focus on the whole child, that we establish positive relationships with them to build values in a nurturing environment, as research shows that such an environment allows  students to feel secured and valued, and as such we arrive to a stronger learning relationship.Patty enjoys swimming (She competed at national level in Colombia), cycling, squash, tennis, scuba diving, volleyball; in other words SHE LOVES SPORTS!  She truly believes through them, besides good health, we learn discipline, team spirit, resilience, confidence and have fun.

Inclusive Education Teacher –Ms Pallavi Chakrabarti

Ms Pallavi Chakrabarti holds a Masters degree in Psychology from the University of Mumbai as well as a Diploma in Teaching from Singapore Polytechnic. She has lived and worked in 4 different countries in Asia and Africa and is well-versed in multiple Asian Languages as well as in English.During her Masters studies, she gained varied experience in counselling people from various socio-economic backgrounds & age-groups, especially children. Her work experience also includes being a relief teacher in the American International School, Dhaka. She has been working with children with learning needs for the past 4 years and this is her second year in EtonHouse, Broadrick.
Pallavi strongly believes that ‘if children can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.’ She enjoys working with diverse learners, and whilst engaged with them believes her journey of learning continues everyday.

 


Resources

Resource Teacher – Ms Archana Birla

Ms Archana Birla graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delhi. She holds a certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education from SEEDS Institute, Singapore. She also has a certificate in Infant and Toddler Care and Development from Kinderland, Singapore. She has undergone training in Communication and Managing Behaviour of Children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder from the Rainbow Centre, Singapore.
Her years of experience in teaching and caring for children are a testament to her passion and fervour in nurturing a child’s growth and intellect. Ever since 1997, she has devoted her time to teaching in Singapore. She joined EtonHouse International School (Broadrick) in 2002 as an in-house Resource Teacher. This role has allowed her to work with children of varying ages in diverse roles across the school.
Ms Archana believes in encouraging independence and fostering self-confidence in children. She believes these traits build character and strength of mind in young children, allowing them to become critical thinkers as well as resilient individuals.

Resources Teacher – Ms Nutan Mangwani

Ms Nutan Mangwanicomes with more than 16 years of experience; her extensive teaching experience spanning from teaching young school children to working with postgraduate young minds. Her last assignment was Head of department of Computer Science in Bangalore before she joined EtonHouse. She joined EtonHouse 3 years back and has been also involved in developing curriculum for ICT for Secondary classes. Teaching for her is not just a career but has been her passion, as she enjoys the collaborative learning process that teaching brings and the platform that offers students to develop into independent thinkers who understand the purpose and value of their learning. She believes in learning with fun and developing students to be free and independent learners.
Nutan has a Master’s in Computer Applications (MCA), Bachelor’s in Science (BSc) and a Bachelor’s in Education (BEd). She has lived in countries like Algeria, London, India and now in Singapore for last 5 years. She enjoys spending time with her 2 sons and loves to listen to music in her free time.
